A) Teaching Math Through Problem Solving & Math Games -
Engage students in mathematics using problem solving!
Participants will explore teaching math through problem solving
using the 3-part lesson. Ann Pigeon, TVDSB Math Coordinator
B) Teaching Math Through Problem Solving & Foldables - Engage
students in mathematics using problem solving! Participants will
explore teaching math through problem solving using the 3-part
lesson. Barb Seaton, TVDSB Math Coach
C) Differentiated Instruction in Junior and Intermediate Math -
Every class includes students at many levels of math
development. Learn how to use the resources to differentiate
instruction to meet the needs of all your students. Participants
will have an opportunity to develop differentiated questions to
help your next unit to reach all of your students. As well, you
will develop parallel tasks and learn how to open up questions

session. Workshops are held at our OT Offices, 521
Nottinghill Road, Suite 8 in London, from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM and

An Introduction for Beginners to
The Daily Five: Fostering Literacy Independence in the
Elementary Grades:
Keeping abreast of current teaching practices is important for
all Occasional Teachers. This crash course for the
uninitiated will introduce members to the 'Daily Five' approach
to creating independent literacy learners in the classroom.

This new document updates, clarifies, coordinates, and
consolidates the various aspects of assessment, evaluation and
reporting with the aim of maintaining high standards, improving
student learning, and benefiting students, parents/guardians,
and teachers in elementary and secondary schools across the
province.

Taking a French Assignment without FSL:
Afraid to accept a short-term French assignment because you lack
FSL qualifications? This workshop and resource will instill in
you a new level of confidence. Participants will be taught
effective teaching strategies and provided with a set of seven
comprehensive user-friendly lesson plans for Core French
classes.

Literacy: Effective Writing:
This session on effective writing instruction will explore the
various writing components of a comprehensive literacy program
and the role of the mini-lesson in explicitly teaching students
how to become better writers. As Lori Jamison Rog states
"Even our youngest students can understand that good writing
needs ideas, details, organization, crafting, revision and
editing before it is the best it can be." We will refer to The
Guide to Effective Instruction in Writing K-3 and the TVDSB
Primary Balanced Literacy Document and welcome participants to
bring these to the session.
